Why transfer ownership?Transferring ownership is essential to ensure the car is officially yours, allowing you to arrange things like car insurance. After transferring ownership, you are no longer responsible for the vehicle, meaning you won’t have to worry about mandatory insurance, taxes, or vehicle inspections (MOT).

The transfer process

1. What to Bring
As a buyer, bringDutch ID (passport, ID card, or driver’s license).
As a seller, bringComplete vehicle registration documents (registration card with transfer code or registration certificate (part 1B) and transfer certificate (part 2).
The transfer costs €13,10.In most cases, the buyer covers the cost. So don’t forget your wallet!
2. Visit our registration desk together
The buyer and seller must visit our Registration Desk together for a quick transfer process.
3. Transfer vehicle ownership
As a buyer, you will receive:Two transfer codes:
One immediately during the transfer.
One later by post, along with the registration card.
